What is Play Therapy

Play therapy is an evidence-based therapy that helps children and teenagers express their thoughts and feelings through play.

Young people do not always communicate through words. Instead, they may express themselves through changes in behaviour, play, drawing, storytelling, imagination or silence rather than words. Play therapy provides a safe and supportive space where children and adolescents can explore their emotions in a way that feels natural and developmentally appropriate to them.

At Silent Stories, play therapy is used to support children experiencing:

• Anxiety.
• Emotional difficulties.
• Behavioural challenges.
• Trauma or loss.
• Changes within the family.

• Neurodiverse and developmental difficulties

• And many other challenging experiences.

Through play therapy, young people can begin to make sense of their experiences, develop emotional resilience, and find healthier ways to cope.

Based in Inverclyde and operating across surrounding areas including Renfrewshire, Dumbartonshire and Glasgow, Silent Stories offers therapeutic support within a calm, supportive environment for your child.
